Six Seminoles Earn All-Conference HonorsMay 13, 2012
Six Seminoles were named to the 2012 SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference All-Conference team. The Seminoles won the SELC's Southern Division, and reached the SELC Championship game. Midfielder Luke Donovan and defenseman TJ Dugan earned First Team honors.
Donovan, a junior midfielder, scored 49 goals and 23 assists for the Seminoles. He also added 35 groundballs. He scored 4 goals and had 2 assists in both the SELC Championship Quarterfinals and Semifinals. He also scored 4 goals and had 3 assists against Florida the week before.
Dugan, a graduate student defenseman, anchored the Seminole defense in 2012. The defenseman also helped the Seminole offense with 3 goals, 5 assists, and 49 groundballs. Dugan scored a goal and had two assists in the Seminoles’ SELC Championship Quarterfinal win over Alabama.
Junior midfielder Brett Angerer earned Second Team honors. Angerer tallied 35 goals and 17 assists for FSU this spring. He scored six goals against Georgia in February, and had the game-winning assist late in the fourth quarter when the Seminoles beat Georgia in the SELC Championship Semifinals.
Senior defensive midfielder Rolly O’Meilia also earned Second Team Honors. O’Meilia had a goal, two assists and 22 groundballs for the Seminoles in 2012. O’Meilia never lost a home game, having gone undefeated at Harkins Field during all four years he played for the Seminoles.
Freshman defenseman Will Pilkington also earned Second Team honors. Pilkington helped anchor the Seminole defense with solid, dependable play. He also added 34 groundballs. Pilkington, a very disciplined player, had only 3:30 in penalties during the season.
Freshman face-off specialist Nico Beskid also earned Second Team honors. Beskid won 188 out of 275 face-offs (68%), had 1 goal, 2 assists, and 53 groundballs for the Seminoles. Beskid was especially strong against the rival Florida Gators, when he won 19 out of 21 face-offs.
