FSU 13, Utah 6

The Florida State Seminoles rebounded from their first loss of the season with a 13-6 victory over the Utah Utes.  Led by five goals from attack man Corey Noonan and an exceptional man-down defense led by defenseman Myles Somerville and goalie Stephen Heiman, the Seminoles earned their fifth win of the season.  Tied at 2 after the first quarter, the Seminoles exploded for a six goal second quarter to take an 8-2 lead into the half.  Offensively, the Seminoles’ second-quarter outburst was sparked by three goals from Noonan (5g, 3a) and two assists from Matt Jankowski (1g, 5a).  The Seminoles held the Utes scoreless during the quarter which included four extra-man opportunities for the Utes during the quarter.  For the games, the Seminole man-down defense allowed just one goal on eleven opportunities. Noonan and Jankowski combined for two additional goals in the second half as the Seminoles closed out a 13-6 victory to move to 1-1 in the 2008 Southern Shootout.  They conclude their weekend with a game on Monday against Missouri.  GAME STATISTICS Score by Period      1    2    3    4    TOTAL ————————————————- FSU…………………. 2    6    3    2     –   13 Utah………………… 2    0    3    1     –    6 FSU SCORING: GOALS: Noonan 5, Jankowski 1, Richey 1, Honrstein 1, Geppert 1, J.
